Our Philosophy
Preparing for the 11+ is a marathon, not a sprint.
At Best Chance Tuition, we believe that success comes from starting early and finishing strong.
That’s why we focus on building secure foundations in Year 4 before intensifying preparation in Year 5 – giving children the time, structure and confidence they need to progress steadily and perform at their best.
Meet the Founders
Best Chance Tuition is a family-run business founded by husband and wife duo,
Malachi and Mildred Talabi.
Together they are parents to two daughters - one who successfully passed the grammar school exams and begins secondary school in 2026, and another preparing for her own exams this same year.
They live and teach from Dartford, Kent.
Malachi Talabi
A qualified primary school teacher with over 15 years of experience, Malachi has taught countless children across Key Stage 1 and 2.
He is known for his dynamic teaching style, ability to simplify difficult concepts and commitment to helping every child feel seen, heard and supported.

Mildred Talabi
A communications expert, entrepreneur and qualified adult education teacher, Mildred oversees the parent experience, programme quality and operations.
As a mother navigating the 11+ journey herself, she brings insight, empathy and organisation to the process.
What Makes Us Different
At Best Chance Tuition, we don't believe in perfection. Our approach is about giving your child the right tools, structure and support so they have the best chance to perform their best in the 11+ exams.
We don’t believe in overwhelming or overloading children. We believe in focused preparation, steady progress and confidence built over time. Everything we do is designed to support your child academically and emotionally – so they feel prepared, capable and ready when it matters most.
Small online class size (maximum 10 children)
With no more than 10 children per class, online, every pupil is seen, supported, and challenged appropriately. This means questions are answered, gaps are spotted early, and no child gets lost in the room.
Friendly, structured lessons that develop confidence
Our lessons follow a clear structure so children know what to expect and can focus on learning, not keeping up. A calm, supportive approach builds confidence week by week - especially for children who feel anxious or unsure.
Family-run business with real experience of the 11+ journey
We’re a family-run business that has experienced the 11+ first-hand. We understand the pressures and process, and plan every step with parents and children in mind.
Highly qualified tutors with proven results
All teaching is led by highly qualified tutors, experienced in the 11+ pathway. Your child is taught by someone who knows the exam process well and understands how to prepare children properly.
Foundation and intensive preparation across two years
Our two-year approach builds skills steadily in Year 4 before moving into focused exam preparation in Year 5, giving children time to master content and technique. This phased approach avoids cramming and supports long-term confidence.
Strong partnership with parents
We work closely with parents, keeping communication clear and expectations realistic. You’ll know what your child is working on, how they’re progressing, and how to support them at home without adding pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions we’re asked by parents navigating the 11+ with Best Chance Tuition. If you have a question we haven't covered, please do drop us an email or a WhatsApp message and we'll be happy to answer.
Why does Best Chance Tuition start preparation in Year 4?
Year 4 is the ideal time to begin building the foundations needed for the 11+. Starting here allows children to develop core skills, routines and confidence without pressure, so they are better prepared for the more focused work of Year 5.
My child is in Year 3. Is it too early to think about Best Chance Tuition?
Not at all. Year 3 is the stage where many parents start becoming aware of the 11+ exams. While we don’t offer formal tuition at this stage, you can join our waiting list to enrol your child on our Head Start programme as soon as they start Year 4. Our doors open in August for a September start.
My child is doing well at school – would they still benefit from your Year 4 programme?
Yes. Doing well at school doesn’t always mean a child is fully prepared for the specific demands of the 11+. Our programme helps children apply their learning in a different way, build confidence with unfamiliar question styles, and develop exam-related skills gradually.
Is it too late to join Best Chance Tuition in Year 5?
It’s not too late, but Year 5 does require a more focused approach therefore we only enrol Year 5 children between September and January - if they haven't already been on our Year 4 Head Start Programme. However, we will require your child to carry out a diagnostic assessment beforehand to ensure their suitability for our Year 5 Finish Strong programme.
Which 11+ exam areas do you prepare children for?
We prepare children for the 11+ exams in Kent, Bexley and Medway, and ensure our teaching aligns with the requirements of these areas.
Do you guarantee a grammar school pass?
No. No tutor can ethically guarantee a grammar school place. What we do guarantee is high-quality teaching, structured preparation and clear guidance to give your child the best possible chance.
How do you track progress and keep parents informed?
We regularly monitor progress through classwork, homework and assessments, and provide feedback so parents understand how their child is developing and where support is needed.
What support do parents need to provide at home?
Success in the 11+ requires partnership. While we provide structured teaching and guidance, children also need consistent support at home to make real progress. This includes helping your child maintain good routines, encouraging completion of set work, and taking an active interest in how they are learning.
We don’t expect parents to teach content, but we do expect them to be invested in their child’s learning. When home support and tuition work together, children are far more likely to feel supported, motivated and able to succeed.
